Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support Program:
Dandjoo Darbalung

St Catherine's College provides various community and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Perth through our Dandjoo Darbalung program which in Noongar means ‘mixing together’ the way fresh water and the salt water mixes in the Swan estuary across from our College.

This film has been created in partnership with Eugene Eades and the Dandjoo Darbalung Program at St Catherine’s College. Students from the Dandjoo Darbalung Program and St Catherine’s College participated in a weekend On Country at Nowanup with Eugene Eades and Simon Forrest, where they heard from respected Elders about the importance of healing Country.

About

Dandjoo Darbalung has students from metro, rural and remote areas of Australia attending university and TAFE.

Dandjoo Darbalung provides community and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Perth so they can be successful in their university or TAFE studies.

The three key pillars of the program are excellence, academic and cultural support, carefully structured around personal student empowerment, and providing a clear pathway for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to obtain skilled, professional employment after graduation.

For more information, take a look at our Dandjoo Darbalung Program Guide.

Philosophy

Together we support one another to create excellence, knowledge and understanding. By saying 'yes' to opportunities, we become the change we want to see in the world.
